Hummingbird Nest Ranch sits in the Santa Susana Mountains, about thirty minutes from Los Angeles, and it genuinely feels like a different world once you’re through the gates. Spanish villa architecture, bougainvillea crawling up warm stone walls, ornate gates, olive groves, and mountain views in every direction…There’s real history and character here, and it shows.
Mitch and Jordan’s wedding had a lot of intention behind it, and it showed from the very first moment of the day.
Morning at the Ranch
The villa’s interior is genuinely one of a kind. Exposed wooden beam ceilings, terracotta tile floors, and old stone walls photograph beautifully and give the getting-ready portion of the day a warmth that a standard bridal suite just can’t replicate. Jordan’s bridesmaids wore earthy chocolate satin sets in the morning, relaxed and happy as they helped her get ready for the day.
And then there was the dress. Jordan wore a custom Vivienne Westwood gown — an off-the-shoulder satin with a dramatic cowl neckline and a long train — and it was genuinely a showstopper.
The First Look & Private Vows
Jordan shared an emotional first look with her father inside the villa’s grand corridor. Following that was her first look with Mitch. They also chose to savor the moment longer and exchange private vows ahead of their day.
The portraits throughout the property were some of my favorites — the ornate gates, the vine-framed archways, the grounds in that golden late-afternoon light. Hummingbird Nest gives you so much to work with.
The Ceremony
Mitch and Jordan got married at the Villa portion of Hummingbird Nest. Here, the ceremony space opens out to the mountains. The altar was framed by lush white florals — hydrangea, roses, greenery trailing to the terracotta tile — with the red bougainvillea of the villa walls and the rocky Santa Susana ridgeline behind it.
The energy of the moment was warm and emotional throughout. Mitch and Jordan are one of those couples where the love between them is obvious to everyone around them, and that read across the whole ceremony.
Elegant Hummingbird Nest Ranch Wedding Reception
The reception terrace at Hummingbird Nest is one of the best in Southern California — a central stone fountain surrounded by long dinner tables, string lights canopied overhead, the valley and mountains stretching out in the distance. As the sun dropped behind the hills and the light turned gold, the whole space transformed. Farm tables with sage green linen runners, white florals, and greenery running down the center, candlelight everywhere. The live band set up on the far end of the terrace, and the dance floor — a glossy black and white checker — sat center stage.
Then came the moment of the night. As the dancing got going, masquerade masks came out for every guest. The whole energy shifted — black tie by day, something a little more theatrical and fun by night. It was such a specific, personal touch, and the dance floor was absolutely packed because of it.
